SICKNESS & SCHOOL!! UGGGG

Upon returning from the youth trip I found that the Princess was suffering w/ some major allergy issues (crazy cough, stuffy/runny nose and sore throat).  That lasted approx. 1.5 weeks…which leads us to last weekend.  She barely ate any breakfast last Saturday.  At a birthday party she has less than half a hotdog and NO CAKE!  Sunday, again I think she had few bites of watermelon.  Monday she had nothing to eat and she complained of her throat really hurting.  Tuesday morning we went straight to the doctor’s office to discover STREP THROAT.  Tuesday is when she started saying she couldn’t swallow anything because it hurt (which I understand).  Wednesday morning she woke up vomiting, mouth burning so bad she said it burned to drink water and I noticed her gums in front were very swollen.  I didn’t recall her urinating at all and realized when “crying” there were no tears.  I called the on-call nurse and she said it sounded like cellulitis of the mouth.  Try to keep her hydrated w/ ice pops, fluids, soft foods (I’d already told this crazy lady she COULDN’T EAT b/c of the “burning”) and mix malox w/ benedryl to rinse her mouth.  Thursday morning she woke up with sores on her face.  Keep in mind she’s taking an antibiotic for strep and I’m alternating tylenol & advil every 2-3 hours because she’s in such pain.  I call the on-call nurse again (it’s 4th of July holiday) and she sends us to the Pediatric Clinic at the hospital (we know this place, we’ve been there w/ her TWO times before!).  Here we discover she has HAND, FOOT & MOUTH virus.  Her mouth was eat up w/ blisters/canker-sores, all the way down her throat.  She has lost approx. 4 pounds (because remember she hasn’t really eaten at all in 5 days) but by the grace of God she’s not dehydrated so there’s no need for fluds (or needles).  We’re sent home w/ 3 scrips..zofran (nausea), carafate to heal the sores in her mouth and hydrocodone for the pain.  Now they give her the hydrocodone before we leave and by the time we get to the car she’s smiling and chatting up a storm all the way home.  She said she felt so much better (of course I knew it was the drugs but it was so good to see her smile and move around).  I did not wake her thru the night for meds…BIG MISTAKE!  She woke up this morning throwing up again.  She asked me NOT to give her the hydrocodone because she doesn’t like the way it makes her “wound up”.  By the afternoon her fever is back.  Meanwhile, the child is starved and just moans because she’s hungry and miserable.  We’ve tried jello, applesauce, pudding, homemade chicken broth, bread, bananas…EVERYthing burned her mouth and she just screamed!!  I TOOK HER BACK TO THE DOCTOR, INSISTING UPON SEEING ONLY HER PRIMARY DOCTOR~ Due to her throwing up there was concern of her NOT getting over the strep infection b/c the antibiotics aren’t staying in her system long enough.  We opted to give her an antibiotic injection (this was not pleasant; very painful for her).  Because of the way the hydrocondone makes her feel we took her off that and started back w/ the Advil (I don’t tolerate narcotics well either!!).  Doctor doesn’t feel the need to change the carafate b/c it’s the best thing for healing the sores.  We’re still taking the zofran to keep her from throwing up and irritating the throat sores.  Dr. said her glands are still swollen AND she has “fluid bubbles” in her left ear, both due to fighting the infection.  I’VE GOT ONE SICK LIL’ LADY ON MY HANDS!  Please call out “Hannah” in your prayers tonight, I realize YOU don’t know this child but GOD does 🙂

WHY am I wanting to be a Fitness Nutrition Specialist and get certification? Because according to some reports, by 2030 more than half the U.S. population will be obese. It’s a veritable epidemic. And there’s something WE can do to fight it. Supplement our knowledge of good fitness techniques and methodology with an extensive understanding of good nutrition and include the right supplements into our diet.  I WANT TO IMPACT THE BATTLE AGAINST OBESITY~  AdvoCare has given me the desire to “Catch the Vision” (haha that just happens to be Advo’s slogan for the 20 year celebration/success school this summer).  The FNS courses I will be taking will provide the advanced knowledge I need to successfully work with those seeking nutritional guidance (ME).  I can’t wait to be an “expert” lol~  Once I’ve completed that certification I’m hoping to move on to getting a Weight Loss Specialist Certification…but let’s not get ahead of ourselve here haha
(My plan is to start classes when my kids go to school mid-August just waiting on God to provide me the funds..He’s able, He’s able, I KNOW He’s able!  Be sure to add me to your prayer list…have a feeling I’m gonna NEED all the help I can get)
