Day 24 and Beauty & The Beast

IT…IS…amazing what a good night’s sleep will do
It’s also…

Amazing what praising can do—HALLELUJAH!
I don’t worry when things go wrong
Jesus fills my life with a song…

✟ Matthew 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them

I know what it’s like, I’ve been there, to feel like you can’t pray, to feel burdens so heavy that it takes everything you have to put one foot in front of the other.  Carrying such a heavy load that you don’t feel God is listening, that you begin to doubt your salvation.  These are the times that you lean on your Christian family the most, the times you let them help you carry that heaviness, the time you need them to pray for you, on your behalf.  Encourage others around you in this situation.  It’s a tough place!  Go before the throne room and plead with God to bless them and lighten their load.  Today I find myself burdened for one of “those” friends, I’m heartbroken for their needs, teary for their hurts.  Their journey is hard, the road is long but God will carry them through.  We must go through the valley to stand upon the mountain.  Though we may be empty but God is full and His grace is sufficient for His children.  Let’s be the “two or three” that gather ❤

I got up this morning thinking “I’d like to make some cinnamon bread for my family and then tomorrow I’ll use that to make them (eggless) french toast” :p  Started mixing and then it hit me…. I WANT BE HOME TODAY!!  I got the bread in the oven but we won’t be having it today :/  Realizing the bread won’t be ready for breakfast today and the fact I can’t really rely on DH to take it out of the oven I decided to also make some Paleo Strawberry Breakfast Cookies which I already know my family loves ❤ ❤ (I however will be having an FP shake due to all of yesterday S’s that have left me feeling “thick” this morning)

What I ate today:
Spark/Catalyst/Thermo/MNS 16 oz
(8 oz)
FP/Chia tapioca shake
(16 oz)
S/2 scrambled eggs & strawberries 20 oz
E/Popcorn 16 oz
Spark 16 oz
S/Strawberry cookie & almond butter bar (I cut these into maybe 2” squares) 16 oz
E/Overnight oats (which I’d forgotten I had) and asparagus (haha) 16 oz

I woke up feel so much better today, dare I say “fantastic” but that seemed to be short lived.  I haven’t felt great since that horrendous knock in the head the other night.  I had a “spell” while driving today but luckily I was sitting in “stop’n go” traffic (Praise the Lord, God is so good).  Had I been MOVING there would have been disaster.  Met up w/ my cousin for our mom’s day out together (we do this maybe once a month), today we went to see Beauty and The Beast.  Can I just say I had some hesitancy with taking my little when it first came out.  It was all the hype I was hearing about a homosexual couple kissing and the “obvious” love of a man for another….yes, it had me concerned.  Hey listen, I don’t judge people for how they live but I ain’t bringing it into my home ya know?

Oh my soul the Cinematography of this movie (I hope I’m using that word correctly….had it been a cartoon I would’ve said the animation…) was completely amazing!  The actors chosen for each part, in my opinion were spot on (except for one)!  Emma Watson as Belle?  Oh well, I believe she may now be my favorite actress! I LOVED IT!

The original, animated version is still one of my favorite Disney movies (but ya’ll, even in that one the “three bar ladies” were “scantly clad” and Gaston was showing a hairy chest…no hairy chest in this one.  I must admit, I was NOT crazy about the fella who played Gaston as I expected it to be a much physically larger man).  And the homosexuality?  The kiss?  I NEVER SAW A MAN KISS!  Yes, Le Fleur had an obvious man crush on Gaston but it wasn’t like he was all over him…kids wouldn’t pick up on it.  When the wardrobe dresses three men as women, two scream and run away while the third turns to smile, well if I’m not mistaken that was in the original animated one as well (I plan to rewatch it to see) and at the end Le Fleur and that man do have a dance (quickly seen as they bump into each other and make eye contact).  Bottom line, I give Disney a thumbs up on this one and I will be taking my little to see it 🙂

I’m sorry I haven’t had much nutrition talk lately, I’ve got so much going on trying to maintain all my facebook groups, hotsparkmama, my schooling,  ebay, the kids’ ball schedules and still keep a happy home ❤  I ain’t gonna lie, this life ain’t for the faint of heart, I love every minute of it but I am TOO BUSY!  Therefore, I will be taking a short break from here (not exactly sure how long).  There are some Advo changes being made and I have to determine what I can and can’t share here (which means there may be quite a bit of editing and/or removal of a LOT of posts).  AND I have a friend who wrote an amazing book about motherhood that I need (AND WANT) to finish in order to write a review 🙂

Day 22 and FP ideas

I didn’t post my usual morning devotion on my facebook page this morning but during my (2 mi) walk I was noticing all the sections of the track that had been washed away from the many rain/storms we’ve had as of late and it hit me…. that’s what sin does our lives!  Erosion – It’s what happens to our lives every time our steps take us into the world.  “No, it won’t be but so bad if I just of it one time”… but when the second or third time gets easier and here’s what happens… you find you’ve turned away from God and everything you’ve been taught.  Next, you find your life begins to crumble like the during the hard rains.  You get to a point of asking, “God, where are you?”.  He wasn’t the one that walked away, you were!

Isaiah 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us

What I ate today:
E/Strawberry crumb bars
S/Chicken, egg and slice cheese
FP/Chicken soup w/ 2 meringue cookies
FP/Chia tapioca pudding
S/2 scrambled eggs w/ tenderloin (& shredded hashbrowns!)

Find those gorgeous strawberry crumb bars HERE (oh, did I mention they’re vegan? No gluten, No eggs, No dairy)

It occurred to me after eating the SECOND time i ate today that a mini fuel cycle might be THREE days not just one!  I think I may have just got so excited about how much everyone loved the Strawberry Crumble Cake that I jumped the gun 😀  Which brings me to sharing some FP snack ideas (as I feel like I need to make up for missing those DEEP S this morning haha)

To keep my chicken soup FP I used 1-1 ½ c homemade broth, 1 c water, garlic, onion, kale, ginger and just ¼ – ½ tsp tumeric for added flavor (BUT this will stain your container).   Made in the Vitamix for super easy convenience.  Once good and hot I slowed the mixer down to add kale & chicken

Fixed some chocolate covered almond butter bars (which got left out yesterday) and handy dandy (FP) chocolate sauce because I haven’t had any to pour over my apples w/ peanut butter in a while and it’s MY FAVORITE snack for carrying to enthusiast’s ball games ❤

FP snacks:

  1. Protein shake- 1 T. Peanut flour, 1 c. almond milk, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, 1/2 tsp. coconut extract (optional; I omit), 2 drops liquid stevia, handful of spinach, handful of ice- so yummy and so satisfying. The protein really helps with the hunger!
  2. Lemon Muffin in a bowl-  Follow the directions for the MIB (THM p. 258) & replace cocoa w/ vanilla protein powder, use 1/2 juice of lemon or 1/2 tsp. lemon extract),
  3. Trimmacino light
  4.  Big Boy Smoothie (THM p. 243
  5. Chia tapioca pudding

FP lunch or dinner

1  Egg white omelet w/ sauté veggies
2  Chicken tortilla soup
3  Sweet & Spicy Asian Stir Fry (page 341)
4  Wasa cracker w/ tuna & cucumber slices

PS….Mini Fuel Cycle is just ONE day can be however long you like, only it’s no longer a mini if more than 5 days lol~

Day 21 and THM mini fuel cycle

Preaching the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no man forbidding him. Acts 28:31

So often, we give excuses why we can’t witness to others. I’m guilty of this! “What if they ask about something I don’t have know the answer for? What if they’re argumentative? What if they cuss me out?” Throughout his life, Paul shows us how lame our excuses really are! He is under house arrest and having to support himself, yet he still manages to get the Gospel out to the lost!

Lord, help me to be bold! Give me the words you would have me to say when they need to be said to just the right person.

Give me Words to speak
Don’t let my Spirit sleep
Cause I can’t think of anything worth saying
But I know that I owe You my life
So give me Words to speak
Don’t let my Spirit sleep

Because I’ve decided to add a THM mini fuel cycle (which is just ONE DAY AT A TIME) there will be several links in this post (y) to help you….who am I lying?  I need them for next time 😉

I did not choose a great day to go FRUIT FREE :*(  (oh right, you did know that a fuel cycle DEEP S day means NO fruit, NO dairy, NO nuts, NO seeds right?).  On my way home from my (2 mile / 25 min) walk I saw our local strawberry patch had their OPEN sign out.  It wasn’t 9am and there were already quite a few out picking and it had just began to drizzle.  I did NOT pick them myself, honey that’s way too rough on the back and knees lol.  I’m riding home w/ the windows cracked, berries in the back seat (so I wouldn’t be tempted to eat) and the sweet smell was almost more than I could handle…but I made it home.  With said berries,  I made a big batch of THM/FP strawberry jelly, a batch of regular sugar free freezer jam for the family and what looks to be the most delicious strawberry crumb bars :p  And what goes well for family’s dessert atop these crumb bars (which I WILL eat for my E breakfast in the morning)?   (Coconut) Whip Cream of course (y) (<—-this can also be made with coconut sugar and/or honey).  And y’all know I do not like waste, so the leftover strawberry puree residue I added the little bit of leftover coconut milk (with an additional cup hot water) and made strawberry milk (clap, clap), I figure if it’s not fit to drink I can just add it to my smoothies ❤ Chopped up cabbage (for tonight’s FP dinner), sliced cucumbers, mixed up some “truvia”, ground some for “powdered sugar”, oh I also made some overnight oatmeal, oh AND tapioca chia pudding and there’s ALWAYS laundry going!

Oh….about those sweet berries?  I ain’t gonna lie, I ate ONE!  #itmeltedinmymouth

What I ate today:
Spark/Catalyst/Thermo/MNS 16 oz
DEEP S/2 eggs w/ spinach in butter 16 oz
(16 oz & before MNS)
DEEP S/Lettuce wrap w/ chicken drizzled in olive oil 16 oz
Spark/S&S/Catalyst 16 oz
FP/Mouth watering meringues (Original THM/370) 8 oz
FP/Cabbage roll in a bowl 32 oz

Good list of what can and CANNOT have on Deep S like NO FRUIT 😦 https://traditionally.wordpress.com/2013/10/07/thm-deep-s-foods/

Wow! Pretty extensive list of idea for your FPs http://largefamilytable.com/100-trim-healthy-mama-fuel-pulls-low-carb-and-low-fat/#aa

For the FP/meringue cookies, I added 1 tsp cinnamon and 1 Tbsp of cacoa (because hello, it’s a superfood…. Every time I see that word I say it in my head like the Frozo guy from The Incredibles when he says, “WHEERRRRE is my super suit?” bwahaha)

I made the overnight oatmeal WITHOUT the greek yogurt (we avoid dairy as much as possible) so we’ll see how it turns out 😉

OHhhhh and I made Chocolate pudding/S

Crazy as it sounds…I miss days like this, being in the kitchen ALL DAY!  But guess what, tomorrow, I gotta do some real W-O-R-K!  Which means I better get outta the kitchen and into the bed! Zzzzzzz….

(Sorry none of my beautiful pictures would load this evening 😦 Ya’ll truly did miss out hahaha)

I’ve had a virus

Ohhhh boy!
It’s been a rough several days :/
I’ve had a virus!  I don’t mean the germy kind that affects the immune system…NO, it was worse!  It was the kind that locks up your computer and puts a hold on L-I-F-E!  But ya know what I realized?  The days I was detached from the WWW, I was so busy that I wouldn’t have even had time to keep connected if it had been working 😀  #aintGodgood

Only problem with not having that connection is that I literally lose track of my days HaHa  I believe I left y’all hanging on Day 15 of our 24DC which would make this day….19???  (Honestly I just thought I was outta commission a couple of days but apparently it was three whole days).

Soooo quick recap….
AM every day Spark/Catalyst/ThermPlus/MNS w/ 16 oz

….that’s all I’ve got! 😉

I remember how Day 16 started out… it was because of the breakfast (it was bad!).  Oh and the fact that I DID start typing it out on google doc (I miss WORD).  Quite frankly when my computer crapped out the thought of actually WRITING THINGS DOWN WITH PEN & PAPER escaped me lol~

What I ate today:
Spark/Catalyst/Thermo/MNS 16 oz
CO/Breakfast smoothie
(16 oz)
E/Breakfast cookies
E/Chicken, brown rice, black beans and lettuce 22 oz

My breakfast smoothie this morning was not good…it wasn’t just not good, it was bad! Like maybe something I put in there had truly gone rancid…but yes, I did drink it LOL~  Pretty sure the concoction of “everything left” was a definite cross over (remember cross over doesn’t mean B-A-D but just not conducive for weight loss).  It was all healthy, good for you stuff but it included both healthy fats and carbs— coconut water, half avocado, cup spinach, 3 baby carrots, handful frozen grapes, 5 frozen strawberries, maybe ¼ orange and an old kiwi tucked away in the back of fridge :/  OH YEAH, it was so awful I had to remix with frozen pineapple.  Just a lil’ secret I’ve learned…adding pineapple to any bad tasting smoothie will make it better 😀

Day 16 was my Costco day! Whooo Hooo…finally stocked!
Fridge
By the time I got all the groceries away it was time to pick up the little from school.  Returned to get ready for church…after church celebration for Pastor’s 65th birthday and it was then that I was going to update the blog.  Turned my computer on and it started verbally talking to me—WARNING WARNING WARNING! SOMEONE IS TRYING TO HACK YOUR COMPUTER!  SOMEONE IS TRYING TO STEAL YOUR CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!  YOU NEED TO CALL MICROSOFT AT THIS NUMBER IMMEDIATELY!  DO NOT TRY TO TURN YOUR COMPUTER OFF BEFORE CALLING THIS NUMBER!  IF YOU DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER MICROSOFT WILL BE FORCED TO SHUT DOWN YOUR COMPUTER BEFORE IT…blah blah blah! <—-the whole time I was trying to exit out, cancel, anything…I just had to manually shut it off!

Now listen—this didn’t make sense to me!  True, it was obvious that a virus had managed to work it’s way on my computer but I am NOT gullible enough to call a number and offer up my credit card information!  I didn’t fall off the turnip truck yesterday!  ANY time something seems “off”, check it out, your gut is trying to tell you something!  I always let my husband take a look before I move forward with most anything that has to do w/ my computer (yep, he’s the man) 😉   Once my DH finally found time to “get on it” when he turned it on it was still screaming that WARNING WARNING WARNING! (let me interject here that my husband is deaf…not completely but darn near, even WITH his hearing aids which most of the time he doesn’t know where they are or they’re “dead”).  He said that some page I had visited (which I go to the SAME pages EVERY DAY) was able to insert a virus ON TO MY HOMEPAGE (which is why every time we turned it on it was just there).  In theory when this virus alerts the visitor to call, they offer to help walk you through removing the virus FOR A SMALL FEE of course and then guess what, they’ve got your credit card info and do with whatever they want!  Problem being, I have a SPYWARE type virus protection on my computer that he discovered hasn’t worked since November (wide eyes) and why is this?  Because when I get those little pop up notifications that there’s needs to be an update—-I IGNORE IT THINKING IT’S PROBABLY A VIRUS hahaha 😀  Once I was up and working I saw where a friend from church had mentioned he’s gotten THREE phone calls from “Microsoft” with the exact same warning (he’s actually a computer tech guru so of course he laughs and hangs up but y’all these scams really work or they wouldn’t keep doing it).

Ok, so Thursday we had Fine Arts Competition at our school and my little played her heart out (two pieces, 2nd was a duet).  This was a really LONG day for everyone!  For breakfast I remember we had Almond Butter pancakes/S (with my homemade applesauce and almond butter).  These pancakes are one of my very favorite breakfasts which I usually top w/ a dollop of sweetened greek yogurt 😛 Kids don’t “love em” but I can add chocolate chips to just about anything and they’ll eat it haha  Lunch was eating out and I opted for two scrambled eggs/S w/ hashbrowns.  I cannot tell you what the snacks were for sure but I do know I PACKED MY BAG!  For a celebration dinner little wanted our favorite pizza joint so it was a true THM bust of fried foods (appetizer sampler w/ “hot chips”, cheese sticks and onion rings) and greasy pizza!

Yesterday/Friday (day 18)
ANOTHER LONG day—-two in a row is just about more than I can handle!
We started with Oatmeal/E for breakfast sweetened with cinnamon and honey (because I am not a THM purist).  I remember having an organic apple for snack.  Kids wanted to go to lunch and opted for Panera but then son backed out (he was nervous about prom) and little likes to share so I let her pick 😉  I had a half chipotle chicken avocado melt panini that was delish!

It was my enthusiast’s prom night so there was lots of preparation (AND pictures) to be done!  We met up with his buddy to go pick up the girls (**when I was a teen going to prom we always tried to carpool and go together but these kids today seem to think money grows on trees and at 9miles/gallon in his “monster truck” lemme tell ya, them trees are bare a lot!), took a few pics and then (followed them) on to a downtown area where lots of people do pictures.  I used to LOVE photography!  You never saw me without a camera, I took Senior photos, prom photos and wedding photos, I couldn’t get enough but I couldn’t charge people for it because it was just a hobby!  Sadly, I lost my passion but I still do pictures for special occasions with my kids’ friends.

Theme for Junior/Senior Banquet was “My heart will go on” and the deco was Titanic (obviously) but I was truly impressed how they turned this church fellowship hall into something so spectacular that if you didn’t know what it was…YOU’D NEVER KNOW!  It was beautiful! They had “fancy” cars to drive the participants to the top of some long cement stairs draped in red velvet carpet leading to their departure (haha get it…well you wouldn’t because you didn’t see their entrance was set to look like the Titanic at dock).  I’m tearing up now thinking about it, it was just so special!  They were announced at their arrival and all the parents/guests were standing at the bottom cheering them on like they were Hollywood stars ❤

Day 19
Spark/Catalyst/Thermo/MNS 16 oz
FP/0% greek yogurt w/ drizzle of honey and 2 cut up strawberries 16 oz
E/Apple w/ tsp peanut butter 16 oz
FP/Mixed green salad w/ chicken 16 oz
Spark 16 oz
S/Cheese off pizza and side salad 24oz

I know that you were expecting some better ideas than what was offered to you today and I’m sorry you didn’t get much nutrition wisdom but sometimes ya know what?  LIFE just take over…

Day 15 AdvoCare 24DC, leg cramps and swagbucks

Stand up, stand up for Jesus, ye soldiers of the cross;
Lift high His royal banner, it must not suffer loss.
From victory unto victory His army shall He lead,
Till every foe is vanquished, and Christ is Lord indeed.

Yes, yes, I know…the music is never-ending in my head 🙂

✟ Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved Psalms 55:22

Is there something in your life that just seems to heavy to carry??  A burden that daily seems to weigh you down?  Have you thought of sitting at Jesus feet and NOT moving until He blesses you like Jacob did?  Today can be the day feel lighter!  (hold up, there’s another song coming) Now let us have a little talk with Jesus,

Let us tell him all about our troubles,
He will hear our faintest cry
And He’ll answer by and by;
Now when you feel a little prayer wheel turnin’,
And you know a little fire is burnin’
You’ll find a little talk with Jesus makes it right. ❤

SO, the last two nights I have been awakened by some horrible leg cramps, I mean so bad I can  hardly move to get out of bed and stretch it out.  I’ve had a charley horse here or there over my lifetime but nothing like what I’ve been experiencing.  Therefore, my 4:20 am starts have been pushed to 5am starts which makes me feel like I’m behind all day long!    I realize I’m getting older and “these things happen” BUT, this is totally unacceptable HaHaHa

Before I started using essential oils I suffered with RLS for years (my husband used to say, “Oh, you got the jumpy leg again?”) but there was no pain linked to that, it was just an incredible urge to move.  There were times I’d have to stand behind the couch and sway my weight from leg to leg while watching a movie with him…how romantic right?

I know that sometimes certain medications will cause you to cramp up but y’all know I don’t even have tylenol in my house (nor will I ever again….did y’all watch The Truth About Vaccinations and how dangerous acetaminophen (<—well that don’t even look spelled right haha) can be to our children).  I know I’m drinking enough water so it’s not dehydration AND I take magnesium each night which should also HELP!

That made me google (actually I swagbucked it haha) what causes night time leg cramps and I came up with a whole heap of issues:

Structural disorders

  1. Peripheral artery disease
  2. Spinal stenosis

Metabolic problems

  1. Acute kidney failure
  2. Addison’s disease
  3. Anemia
  4. Chronic kidney disease
  5. Cirrhosis
  6. Hyperthyroidism
  7. Hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid)
  8. Type 1 diabetes
  9. Type 2 diabetes

Medications and procedures

  1. Blood pressure drugs
  2. Diuretics (water retention relievers)
  3. Oral contraceptives
  4. Cholesterol-lowering drugs (statins)
  5. Dialysis

Other conditions

  1. Dehydration
  2. Diarrhea (causing anal irritation)
  3. Muscle fatigue
  4. Nerve damage, as from cancer treatments
  5. Osteoarthritis
  6. Parkinson’s disease
  7. Pregnancy

(insert wide eyes here) NOTHING! None of the above reason pertain to me!

Then I read this…. “Most of the time, no apparent cause for night leg cramps can be identified. In general, night leg cramps are likely to be related to muscle fatigue and nerve problems.” Well there ain’t no reason in the world for ME to be having leg cramps so tonight it stops (simple as that right?)!

Today I will be mixing up some essential oils that I will apply BEFORE I go to bed and keep by my bedside in case we make this a third night of excruciating cramps!  Basil, Lemongrass and Marjoram will be added to a 10mL roller bottle (like the old lip gloss bottles we all had in the 70s) for ease of application.  **I also may add some Cypress as it’s great for circulation 😉

After adding a few drops of each oil to the roller bottle I will fill the bottle with a carrier oil (I use Fractionated Coconut Oil) as this allows to better & faster absorption (and booyah, it stretches out the life of my oils whoop whoop)

**I mentioned SWAGBUCKS.  If you’re unfamiliar this is a search engine where you earn points for everything you do!  The more you search the more you earn.  It doesn’t matter what website I wanna go to I start on SWAGBUCKS.  When you shop online, SWAGBUCKS gives you a percentage of what you spend back in points that go towards gift cards.  Everyone has heard of ebates and it’s the same concept (yes, I even start on SWAGBUCKS when I’m going to shop through ebates…work the system yo).  I have earned multiple…MULTIPLE gift cards to Kohls, Starbucks and Amazon (they offer a large list to choose from, those are just my favorite/most used) and sometimes they even offer these cards “on sale”.  Say a $25 card costs 2500 points…but a particular time frame or certain month you can get that card for 2200 points.  They almost always have some type of special (like right now is Mother’s Day Special, “earn double cash back and more”) If you wanna give SWAGBUCKS a try use my referral link and for every 50 SB (swagbucks) you earn, I’ll earn 5!  Then when you offer your referral to others and they sign up you’ll earn 10% in your SWAGBUCKS account too….for LIFE! #ilovefreebies

(I just went to my account to see what all i’ve earned…. I have had 3 $25 SBX, 4 $25 Amazon and 1 $25 Kohls…and all that is just from SEARCHING and a little online shopping, you can also earn by taking surveys and watching videos but ain’t nobody got time for that! HaHa)

What I ate today:

E/2 Blueberry chia vanilla breakfast cookie (w/2 MNS) 16 oz
S/2 eggs (in oil) and half avocado 16 oz

Breakfast cookies can be found here (I used oat flour as my GF flour, rice milk for coconut (didn’t realize I’m out of almond) and honey in place of maple syrup….bc y’all know how I feel about honey).  Don’t worry by my calculations the 2 Tbsp of coconut oil and chia in this recipe divided by the 12 cookies is still less than 5g fat keeping you at E fuel 😉   *DH and I enjoyed the cookies and the little ate one but only after I added Enjoy Life Chocolate Chips…truly I did mean to add some to half of the batter for her and just forgot.  Otherwise I’ll need to add a lil’ more sweetener next time (y)

This is the collagen I use —->

TODAY…I struggled. I felt hungry!  I “wanted” something…I wanted to just sit and drink my Spark ALL DAY!  It hit me around lunch time I HAVE THE TOOLS!  I’m eating plenty!  I’m eating healthy fats which satiate me.  I’m drinking lots of water but 30 minutes after eating I’m looking at the clock waiting for my next meal.  But why should I spend the next 8-10 hours counting down?  I finally took Catalyst/3 and had that ah-ha moment…I have the Metabolic blend which will help to “curb” my appetite.  Now listen, I ain’t gonna lie, y’all know I’m not one to “suppress”,

I think we should eat!  But in times like these…well, this is where we should!  These softgels are simply for convenience, I mean to be quite honest, I should’ve just added the actual essential oil into a veggie cap but I’m BUSY and remembered I did have a new bottle so voila 😉

As you may have realized from what I’m eating…I’m down to the bare minimum as I haven’t been to Costco since returning from my little 3 days getaway during Easter break.  Kids have had NO (gluten-free) bread, I used my last bit of organic beef and noodles for spaghetti, there’s no almond milk (because I’m out of raw almonds) and I’m down to use TS son’s rice milk, NO cucumbers, broccoli, asaparagus…I mean who eats a weenie with salad?  😀

WHOA—that’s a lotta S’s, I may have to throw in a THM mini fuel cycle if I keep that up!

We RARELY EVER have red meat and here I’ve had it three days in a row!!  I have GOT to go to the grocery store!

Day 14 AdvoCare 24DC and getting back on the wagon tips

Listen up!!!!
I DO NOT FREAK OUT ABOUT MY DIET!!!  Sometimes I am on plan, sometimes I am wayyy off!  If your diet becomes an obsession then you need to sit down with your bible and take a breather.  Ask God for help!  I used to go into panic mode every time I ate “sugar” (especially) and I would think “well, now I’ve done it, I might as well give up!” NO NO NO!!!  If you eat something you know you shouldn’t, pick yourself up (because you’ll feel like poop and wanna lay down), dust yourself off and jump back on track (y)  If you enjoyed what you had or you were with good company then it was worth it 🙂  But do not let this be a deterrent in your entire day.  Good health is a journey that never ends.  I believe in living each day to the fullest because we are not promised tomorrow.  More important than how you eat is how you love…never let the I love you’s go unsaid ❤

✟ And now abideth faith, hope, charity/love, these three; but the greatest of these is charity/love 1 Corin 13:13

Ironic how God works sometimes… after writing the above I read the below…

“Every time you misstep on your healthy journey, you have two choices: to keep walking backwards, which will surely take you even further away from your goals; or to accept your lack of perfection as normal and forgivable, and take not one, but two positive steps down the path that brings your closer to the future you want.

If you’re reading this, you might have been walking backwards for a while. But instead of waiting for the next day, week, month or even year to overhaul your habits, start TODAY. And start small. You can’t go from the recliner to running or from burgers to Brussels sprouts in an afternoon. But you can do one, two or even a handful of small things that will help you regain your momentum for healthy living.

When you feel like getting back on track is overwhelming, try one (or more) of these small steps each day.

  1. Try a short workout. Even five minutes is better than nothing.
  2. Try a new recipe. Cooking healthy foods can be fun and it never has to be bland.
  3. Eat a healthy breakfast. Your morning meal sets the stage for the rest of your day, so start if off right!
  4. Drink your water. Try to aim for 8 cups each day and you’ll feel the difference!
  5. Look for motivation.  Seeing how others overcome similar struggles and obstacles can be a great source of motivation.
  6. Track your food. No matter how it adds up, you’ll learn from it.”

What I ate today:
Spark/Catalyst/Thermo/MNS 16 oz
S/Almond butter waffle (2 w/MNS) 16 oz
FP/Cottage berry whip (p379) 16 oz
(Before MNS w/ 4 oz)
S/PB protein shake
Spark & Catalyst/3 (16 oz)
S/Cake in a mug (p379) (12 oz)
E/Spaghetti organic beef) w/ brown rice noodles (8 oz)
E/Banana w/ PB and drizzle of (FP) handy dandy chocolate sauce (4 oz)
(Magnesium 4 oz)

**I’m not a purist yo 😉

You can find the waffle recipe here (I added Enjoy Life chocolate chips and my TS son ate it all up topped w/ whip cream, whereas the little for whatever reason will NOT eat a waffle and these do not cook up well as a pancake) :/
AB waffles

Cottage Berry Whip——>Berry whip

Because I made peanut butter (oat flour and almond flour again) for my daughter today, I always utilize the leftover/residue in the Vitamix for either a shake or pudding.  Since it was lunch time I opted for a protein shake (due to the fact that I cannot run water in my kitchen sink actually cooking is getting hard!).  There was possible 2 Tbsp of peanut butter in the mixer to which I add ½ c almond milk, ½-¾ c water, 1 tsp chia, 1 tsp vanilla, 1 Tbsp cacoa and approx 1-1 ½ c ice 😛
PB

Day #13 AdvoCare 24DC and exercise

Oh yes, I’m feelin’ mighty fine, I’ve got heaven on my mind…
IDK what it is but I have felt so good today!!!  Started w/ spark, MNS and companion regimen as usual, just a normal day but there’s just something about Sunday’s and getting to spend time worshiping Jesus w/ my church family that just makes my cup so full ❤

O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? I Corinthians 15:55
Death has the power to end life. Death has the power to separate. Death has the power to discourage and defeat us. But, we know the truth; Jesus lives! Because he lives, we know we can live with him. We believe that his victory over death is our victory. So like Jesus, we mock death and its power to destroy us. Jesus has destroyed death and brought immortality to life… in us through the Gospel.
Father, I admit that the death of those I love still hurts me. I thank you, however, that death doesn’t separate me for long from the ones I love who love you. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Ya know, i don’t talk a lot about working out (since my Zumba instructor left me high and dry I just don’t get excited about working out anymore) but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be doing.  I do believe that what we put INTO our bodies goes a lot further for our weight issues than working out but working out IS important for many reasons!  A regular fitness routine has been shown to do everything from cut cancer and stroke risk to build stronger muscles and bones to encourage better brain health and digestion. Hello…WHO doesn’t need all that?

I hear people (like my mother) say I’m too old…. older people who exercise more have significantly less cognitive impairment than those who did not spend any time working out. Working out is so good for your brain because it increases the blood being pumped to the brain and encourages higher levels of healthy chemicals called brain-derived nerve growth factors

As we enter our 40s & 50s our muscle mass starts to decline :/  We NEED to maintain muscle mass (the more muscle we have the faster we burn fat & calories!) because it is essential for strength and balance.

And here’s a real kicker… EMOTIONS!  Need I say more?  Yes, ok… stress can be caused by elevated levels of cortisol, adrenaline and norepinephrine, exercise can lower these hormones while raising serotonin.  Serotonin is our “happy hormone” which will help reduce stress.  See how that works?  Henceforth, exercise can help keep stress and depression at bay.
crossfit workout<<— yep that’s me LOL~

What I ate today:
Day #13
Spark/Catalyst/Thermo/MNS 16 oz
FP/Coconut Protein Drink (MNS/2)
16 oz
S/Almonds
(Before lunch MNS) 4 oz
E/4 oz filet, steamed broccoli and sweet potato w/ cinnamon 😛 (20 oz)
Spark & catalyst/3 (16 oz)
FP/Grilled chicken salad (16 oz)

**I keep forgetting to mention that I do take magnesium every night before bed

Today I prepped for the week by making some oat flour, almond flour, almond butter and started mixing up an all-purpose gluten free flour…. but THIS time when I reached under the cabinet to get my soap for washing the Vitamix something wet dripped on my foot; here’s where it gets fun :/ I realized the whole flooring was a “pool” and everything under the sink was wet.  Meaning all the “box” products had to be thrown away!  But hey, at least I got my cabinet cleaned out right (gotta find that silver lining)

Day #12 AdvoCare 24DC and companion products

I ain’t gonna lie ya’ll, I woke up feeling kinda yucky today!  Sluggish, drained and just plum draggy!

Once I consumed my spark and ThermoPlus I could feel “boost” kick-in…which got me to thinking, maybe you don’t know about the companion products (though if you’ve been with me long I don’t know how that possible) 😉

CATALYST – an amino acids supplement

“Provides a blend of branched-chain amino acids and L-glutamine to fuel your body with muscle-building components when combined with exercise and a healthy diet.*

Catalyst provides a blend of blend of branched chain amino acids, along with L-glutamine & L-arginine, to fuel your body with muscle-building components.* Catalyst helps repair and protect muscle, and provides amino acids needed to maintain and promote lean body mass, endurance and strength.* Catalyst helps retain muscle when used in combination with a healthy diet, exercise, and other AdvoCare products such as Meal Replacement Shakes or Muscle Gain™.”

The L-glutamine, I find helps to curb cravings and as of late have discovered will help to alleviate a headache (whoop whoop)

THERMOPLUS – a thermogenic which supports body’s ability to convert fat into energy, boosts metabolism and helps with appetite control.

“Contains key botanical extracts to help support efficient metabolism and manage appetite.*

ThermoPlus is an innovative product for supporting weight-loss goals that contains key botanical extracts, such as sage, niacinamide, oolong tea and guarana extracts, to help maintain efficient metabolism and suppress appetite.* The ingredients in ThermoPlus provide enhanced support for the body’s ability to convert fat into energy and promote a healthy metabolism when used in conjunction with a healthy diet and exercise.*”

What I ate today:
Spark/Catalyst/Thermo/MNS 16 oz
16 oz
CO/GF pancakes (16 oz)
12 oz
FP/7 Superfood salad w/ grilled chicken (squirt of lemon juice) 16 oz
E/Boiled egg  white & few grapes 16 oz
Spark/Catalyst (16 oz)
S/Chicken, green beans, stewed potatoes and half (cathead) biscuit :/ (18 oz)

Find the pancake recipe here.  I didn’t do all the “counts” but considered it to be a crossover because it has oats and whole eggs.  I never found time to calculate the fats/carbs when divided by 10 to see if it actually fit into one particular fuel.  IF you do, please let me know (y)  Crossovers (adding fats and carbs to the same meal) are not BAD for you but they are not conducive for weight loss.

IDK what it is about my husband and this recent fascination with “family style” restaurant service (and it seems he just started it the week before I made the decision it’s time to go back to our clean eating lifestyle) but he invited his brother’s family to go out and what does he want… AND let me just add that at this particular restaurant, every Saturday they serve the SAME MENU!  When you’re spending $18/per you kinda feel like ya gotta get your monies worth 😦  and as much as I ate (mostly meat/chicken and green beans) I DID NOT!

Day #11 AdvoCare 24DC & cookie recipe

Where’d she go..go..go..go..goooooo?
Welp, she was up there in them hills a few days and there was all that catching up to do!

Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up. James 4:10

Well…… here I am!  Coming humbly before you with my failures and my faults.  What kinda dumb dumb am I planning a cleanse when I’m going out of town?  Oh, I thought “I’m strong, I’m motivated, this is easy!”  Ummm… what was that about NO SUGAR!!! I did carry snacks and plenty of water everywhere we went and I stayed on track for breakfast every day (except the day we had Paula Deen’s fruit dip and “sweet piggies in a blanket”) :/ but then it pretty much went downhill from there HaHa  Seriously, I didn’t have a lot of sugar but I did have it each day… and the dairy? Well, I didn’t have icecream but I had this delicious grilled chicken with avocado, bacon, lettuce & tomato that I didn’t even realize had swiss until I was almost done!  I failed! Not miserably (because I truly enjoyed every minute) but I admit defeat.  But ya know what, GOD NEVER FAILS!  His love for us was the same when we were lost and throwing our lives away 🙂  He forgives us when we ask and loves through the hills and the valleys ❤
love hat

I normally don’t check weight until Day #11 but because I was going out of town I wanted to know how well (or not) I was doing in order to determine how much it changed while out of town.  Easter morning (the day we left) I got up to find I’d lost 3 pounds (day #5), I didn’t have time to measure.  At my return (checked am on day #10) I had gained 2 lbs BUT ya wanna hear something funny?? I’d swear to you that 2 lbs was muscle!  We walked 6-9 miles, up and down hill every day (I always wall sit while brushing my teeth)  and my leg muscles feel every bit of it.  I don’t FEEL the 2 lbs (as strange as it sounds; I know because I used to laugh at people when they said it, I can FEEL when I gain/lose…).

Day #11

It’s time to change things up a little and add in the MNS! Helloooooo metabolism boost = energy!

Spark/Catalyst/Thermo/MNS 16 oz
S/2 eggs w/ tenderloin 16 oz (2/meal MNS/2)
16 oz
E/Cabbage & quinoa w/ grilled chicken 16 oz
16 oz
S/Almonds 16 oz
Spark (16 oz) & Catalyst/3
S/Chocolate chip cookie (12 oz)
16 oz
E/Cabbage & quinoa leftovers 16 oz

The S-cookies recipe can be found here  🙂

For dinner I spent an hour and a half prepping for a homemade pizza!  I was super excited…cutting up fontina and mozzarella cheese, smushing tomatoes for sauce, chopping onions and spinach, even cutting pits out of olives for my husband… but THE DOUGH?!?!  I DON’T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!  I may have had too much oil on the parchment paper and it got mixed in with the dough but it wouldn’t flattened and the more I tried the worse it got, so I decided to ball it up and start over…then it got “hard” and when i tried to stretch it, it tore :/

It takes a little longer to get in the swing of things w/ the MNS because of the “30 minute before meal” pack.  IF you should happen to forget the “before lunch” you can take it before anything (snack or dinner) (y) you just don’t wanna leave it on an empty stomach.

I take the MNS-3 for overall health and weight management, it’s a couple $$ more expensive than the MNS-E or MNS-C but I don’t feel I need that extra E-Energy or C-Control.  If you’re completely unfamiliar w/ the MNS it’s a comprehensive multinutrient dietary supplement system that focuses on energy, wellness and appetite control.

“MNS® 3 is AdvoCare’s most comprehensive metabolic nutrition system. Not only will you benefit from appetite control and enhanced energy, you will also receive the best core nutrition with Coreplex®, CardioQ, Calcium Plus and OmegaPlex®.* lt’s a fantastic alternative for anyone looking for a lower-caffeine MNS® system in comparison to MNS® C or E.* For energy, appetite control and overall outstanding core nutrition and wellness, MNS® 3 is your answer.”

All day I’ve been singing a Dolly song (Why’d ya come in here looking like that w/ your cowboy boots and painted on jeans?  All dressed up like a cowgirl’s dream.  Why’d ya come in here looking like that?) HaHa but now there’s that “second verse, same as the first” (remember that from GHOST? lol).  I feel like I’m “stuck” here…like I’m starting over AGAIN, ON DAY 12! Pray for me y’all, I ain’t gonna lie, closer I get to 50 the more I realize it’s getting a little harder to drop than the first time :/  But that’s OK!  Weight is just a number, as long as I’m HEALTHY, I’m happy 🙂

Regardless of whether you are FOR OR AGAINST vaccinations this documentary is a must see!  Click here for access—–> The Truth About Vaccinations  THIS IS A REPLAY FOR THIS WEEKEND ONLY!

Day 15 ALL IN 24DC & THM

Whew our THM Fuel Cycle is O-V-E-R!  I don’t know about you but I actually enjoyed the variety of goodies we’ve eaten this last 2 weeks and if I had to I believe I might could do it again lol but let’s not try it!  Fuel Cycles are not meant for long-term!

I will still be applying the THM principles through the remainder of the 24DC (just to prove it can be done) but I won’t be as strict with full days of each meal type (y)

Day 15 / January 26

With your morning Spark you will take your 1st packet on the MNS sleeve, marked “30 minutes before breakfast” and if you’re using Catalyst/3 and ThermoPlus/1 you’ll take these now.

BREAKFAST –  MRS or Light Baked Custard/E (Pg 218 Cookbook) (take both “with meal” MNS/White packets)

SNACK – Cocoprotein/FP

30 minutes before lunch take your last MNS/Yellow packet

LUNCH:  “Who needs Changs Lettuce Wraps/S

30 minutes before snack Catalyst/3 and Spark if needed

SNACK:  Choco Chip Baby Frap/FP ❤

DINNER:  Chicken breast and sauteed spinach cooked in olive oil/S

SNACK: Apple with (homemade) natural peanut butter/S

When making the light baked custard remember this is eggs and i will taste like eggs.  If you want a sweet dish you’ll need to add more sweetener!  The recipe calls for 7 tsp Truvia (which I make) and 2 tsp vanilla (which I make) and this is not enough for my family and then I added cinnamon.  First downfall was that it didn’t set very well and then I remembered last time I added a lil’ glucci so I received a turned up nose setting it before my son (but he ate it) and then he said, “I expected it to be sweet”.  Mental note—add MORE sweetener!

Y’all know I’ve have come to love the egg roll in a bowl!! Yesterday I went ahead and made a batch with the rest of the cabbage (before it went bad) and today I added cashews to the pan for warming and spooned it into large lettuce leaves (Romaine) the only down fall is I had to SHARE them (this is becoming too much of a habit, having to share all my goodies lol).  Luckily I have learned to always double when honey works from home hahaha

Tonight was a game so I had an early quick dinner!  I got a rotisserie chicken yesterday and cut it up to use for quick meals.  I warmed up the chicken and threw in a large handful of spinach and sauteed with olive oil and no salt seasoning and packed a couple of my goodies (apple w/ pb and Light Vanilla Greek Treat/Pg 251 which I will save for tomorrow)

Have you ever noticed (yes, that’s retorical b/c I know you have!) most all processed foods are aimed at convenience. Products that are easy to make, easy to eat, and easy to fit into our busy lives. But, a lot of times convenience comes at a cost — whether it’s just lack of nutrients or harmful chemicals.

It’s one thing to avoid processed foods, but we can’t avoid the fact that our lives are still stressful and busy and sometimes we really do NEED that convenience. But that doesn’t have to mean you gotta buy Jimmy Dean’s breakfast sandwiches.

I make these egg muffins that are convenient for on-the-go, a grab quick snack, or an actual sit down meal!  The broccoli and/or spinach are full of healthy nutrients and flavor, and the protein and fat in the eggs provide balanced energy.  You can add bacon or sausage and any type of spice, herb or veggies for a variety of flavors.

Makes 12 S muffins

  • 10 eggs
  • 1-2 cups mushrooms, sliced (we don’t eat these)
  • 1-1.5 cups (~1 lb.) broccoli or spinach (or both), cut into small florets
  • 1-1½ teaspoons thyme
  • 1 teaspoons sea salt
  • 3 tablespoons coconut oil
  • ½-1 cup cheddar (optional)

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.  Mix all ingredients together.
  2. Prep muffin pan with baking cups or liners.
  3. Pour into cups
  4. Bake muffins for 10 minutes, then rotate tray. Bake another 10 to 20-25 minutes, until the tops seem mostly set. Let rest, then enjoy. Don’t worry — the muffins always deflate a bit when they cool off.

Muffins will store refrigerated for about 5 days.

Total water consumption 104 oz
