Enjoy your food!!

on October 10, 2015

Food is supposed to be one of life’s simple pleasures so why does it cause more angst and confusion, stress and anxiety? It’s because we’re constantly being told which foods we should eat to be healthy, which diets we should follow to be skinny, which prep methods we should use to be safe, and which chemicals and contaminants in food we should shun to avoid illness. It’s enough to give anyone indigestion (thank God for essential oils).

The best advice I can give you is do what’s right for YOU and your family! If there are food allergies then chances are you don’t have the luxury of following one type of diet plan anyway (like we pick and choose from Vegan, Paleo, Gluten Free, etc). You know which items cause you “harm” whether it’s in the form of digestive issues or migraines. I have a good friend who eats “low carb” and it works for her, I on the other hand believe you need some carbs and fruit never made anybody fat 😉

Allow yourself some grace! Sometimes you’re going to knowingly eat those beautiful, sugary filled treats and it’s OK…..that headache you suffer from the next 2-3 days are punishment enough. There are going to be times you don’t know you’ve consumed it until the headache strikes ;/

Always remember to flush out the bad! Drink lots and lots and LOTS of water. Opt for a veggie/fruit smoothie (w/ protein of course) for breakfast or snacks that first day to help ease the “hangover” 🙂

We are supposed to eat to live, not live to eat (yes this was a new concept for me too—-my favorite past time was eating! Who am I kidding? IT STILL IS!) 🙂

Enjoy life people! Don’t let FOOD stress you out! Plus you know stress will cause you to overeat and make the wrong choices. Need something crunchy? Have it! (Grab some nut clusters, heck have a cracker). Gotta taste for yogurt? Have it! (Plain Greek yogurt has way less sugar and you can sweeten it w/ your favorite fruits and/or dab of honey). Sweet tooth kicked in and Catalyst has lost it’s umf? Have a lil! (Apple w/ peanut butter is a great go to for me; Bark thins are fairtrade, organic, dark chocolate w/ you choice of pumpkin seeds or coconut; Make some ice cream from coconut milk, shoot go for a spoonful of Breyers if you want).

Getting healthy and/or losing weight is not supposed to be about deprivation! I do not believe in that! It’s simply about MAKING THE BETTER CHOICE ❤
