I AM sometimes very random

on February 16, 2014

In case y’all haven’t yet realized, I’m truely not a real blogger (did you kow that? haha).  I can’t keep my mind focused on one thing long enough to… (SQUIRREL) LOL~

I started hotsparkmama because I knew of so many people that were doing the AdvoCare 24DC on their own and having done it alone the first time, I thought maybe I could offer a lil’ support.  What started out as a lil’ encouragement to others has become a great encouragement to me…it gives me an outlet to share all I struggle w/, what I’m learning in several different areas in my life and what goes on around me!  Y’all have seen me offer meal plans, share recipes, suggest easy at-home exercises, now start a radical diet change (for son’s TS) and maybe throw out some pretty wild ideas at times 🙂

In keeping w/ my AdvoCare regimen, I try to follow along the THM/Trim Healthy Mama principles for eating by separating my fats and carbs (NOT REMOVING THEM).  Since starting AdvoCare ( in July 2012 I’ve learned soooooo much about nutrition and started classes for FNS (fitness nutrition specialist) Certification in order to fully benefit my friends & family.  I’ve most recently gotten into naturally maintaining my family’s health w/ essential oils.  What y’all maybe don’t know about me is that I used to LOVE LOVE LOVE photography and made a little (very little) money in the process.  When my son (13yo) was lil’ you NEVER saw me when I didn’t have a camera on hand 😉  I gave up the photography when the Princess came along and I started my eBay buisness ( because THAT was a full-time job!  I once had over 500 items in the store which kept me very busy (too busy for taking care of baby) but when I started finding my way into health I sorta let that go by the way side.  I still have the store open but have removed most items…w/ the intent of finding the time to relist them all BWAHAHA~  Do you understand why I’m so scatter brained and seem ADD in my old age?  (**Oh, my pastor asked me today if I wanted a part-time job helping someone he knows w/ a kennel…taking pictures and listing dogs online..Hmmm!  Honey thinks it’ll be “good for me”, I think, “I don’t have enough hours in the day as it is!”)

Welp there’s a few things I’ve learned, realized over time or just felt like sharing w/ you all today!  Yes, these are very random things 🙂

* He that takes medicines and neglects his diet, wastes the time of his doctor
* 1/4 of what you eat keeps you alive.  The other 3/4 keeps your doctor alive (true story haha)
* You can eat yourself into poor health and early death OR you can eat yourself into good health and a healthy life!
* Out of a total of 1/3 all women and 1/4 all men who go on a “diet” to lose weight rather than gain health, 2/3 of those will regain more weight than when they started.  (This being because they did it for the wrong reason!!  They did not LEARN how to maintain good health and simply paid attention to the scales…which is what I tell you NOT TO DO)
* Whatever you hold in your mind on a consistent basis is exactly what you will experience in your life!  I spend more time researching foods and/or what to feed my family that I do studying for my nutrition classes.  I want to experience and teach my family to live a healthy/nutritional lifestyle NOW while they’re young rather than watching them go thru the ringer when they’re older.
* “Diets” are flawed!  Bascially forcing your body to lose weight, your body will force you to gain.  Most people believe in the calories in-calories out theory.  Restricting calories with yo-yo theories of flip flopping high this and low that are simply manipulating your metabolism; they all have an effect but it’s not REAL!  We need a REAL DIET we don’t have to think about. Does that make since?  Eat REAL FOODS, those which God created…we DO need protein, we DO need carbohydrates (fruits/veggies), we DO need fats!  The very second we tell our brains “diet” we start to think CAN’T, DON’T, SHOULDN’T and we feel deprived.  Once we start adding in the good stuff, there’s no room for the bad!  Y’all know I’m NOT about depriving myself but be smart 🙂
* The average American consumes more than 150 lbs of sugars each year.  The “cocaine” of the the free world!  It’s in everything.  68% of US adults are overweight or obese!  Removing “sugar” from our diets does not mean no “sweets”.  You’ll find that once you start removing refined sugars, things you didn’t realize were sweet before you will start to crave (ex: the sweetness of a peach; do you realize how sweet a banana is?  Not if you only consume it in pudding!  I’ve traded krafts chocolate pudding cups for sweetened greek yogurt)
* In the olden days sugar was so expensive that only the reach could get their hands on it!
* Our ancestors died of “old age” rather than heart disease, organ failure and cancer!  They ate what they grew, “lived off the land”, they were healthy AND thin…jus’say’n
* Fat free usually means it’s loaded w/ sugar.  Once ingested sugar turns into fat so the pancrease has to create insulin to bring sugars down..which is the fat producting hormone.  (You can learn more about this in the Trim Healthy Mama book/theory)
* Most people don’t realize they can change their LOOK from the inside out!  Your physical appearance comes from 80-90% of WHAT YOU EAT & 10-20% from WHAT YOU DO W/ IT (referring to working out or working what you eat off haha)
Does that make you stop and think about what you’re consuming?  It should~

I ain’t gonna lie, I don’t ALWAYS eat the best/right way, but trust me, I pay dearly for it….
